Collaborated on techniques and ideas to improve recycling throughout the school. Learned about methods and benefits of composting.
6th Grade Teachers and Staff (~20 participants)	Outdoor School	Carroll County Outdoor School @ Camp Hashawha	Winter, 2009 Fall, 2010 Winter, 2011	All sixth grade teachers attend Outdoor School with their students. During this time, observations and conversation with Outdoor School teachers provides the classroom teacher with tips, techniques, and ideas which are then brought back and implemented at West Middle School.
Mona Jones	Chestnut Orchard Guidance	West Middle School Chestnut Orchard	March, 2012	Learned the proper method for preparing planting sites in our Chestnut Orchard. Identified the number of surviving trees and determined the number of new seed and other supplies required.
Sherry Wood	Chesapeake Bay Foundation Environmental Education Program	Carroll County Student Government Meeting	December, 2011	Learned about high-quality field experiences offered to students allowing them to learn outside and become environmental leaders of tomorrow.
Team 2 Teachers	Guided Facility Tour	Materials Recovery Facility, Prince Georges County, MD	Spring, 2009	Learned about the single stream recycling process and witnessed it in action. Identified several methods for connecting recycling processes to our current curriculum.
